To the moon

Hello. My name is Luci and I'm icky.

Chiara Bautista
When I say icky, I don't mean disgusting. I mean icky as in loveydovey. Icky is something I say when my sister is smooching with her bf. Icky is when I see an old couple walking down the street still holding hands. Icky is when my friend tells something cute about their significant other even though they've been together forever. Icky is cute. Icky is romantic. I am icky and I like icky.

I was looking for a piece of lyrics or a poem the other day from my old hand-written little books which some has worked as diaries on the side too. Fourteen years ago I had met a man I first described as a person who fills my need of human interaction. Someone who doesn't satisfy my soul. Later on I've been complaining about him constantly. Seems like all my heartaches and worries on the verge of becoming an adult had something to do with him.

There were so many things that made me want to scream at the book "Get out, get out get out now!". But of course I can't turn back time and go tell that silly little girl how fucked up the situation was. Why I didn't understand that was not how it was supposed to go, why I didn't have the courage to leave, why I didn't have more self value... I will never understand. But I guess I had to go through that to become the person I am today. We all have to grow up somehow and that relationship was my way of doing it.

The contrast the diaries casts for this day is amazing. I'm finally in a relationship where I'm valued by both sides. There are so much feelings, good all around. We can talk about anything. We can joke about things and we both laugh. He does these sweet little things and I like to think I do the same for him. I can feel it, the feeling is almost touchable.

Though it is too early (I know what you cynics are thinking over there), I can tell this is a good relationship. A healthy relationship. And I wonder why is it so hard to recognise one from all the crap out there. I wish I could make a list of signs here, just like in the earlier post about the signs how to tell he loves you. But relationships are tricky and people are so different. Something works for others, something doesn't.

It's about the feeling, how the other person makes you feel when you're around them and when you're apart. If you write in your diary "he makes me feel so insignificant and dumb", the relationship might not the one. If you have to work out artificial rules for your relationship, then you might be screwed. I don't mean the occasional who does the dishes or a monthly date night out, but if you want to start regulating something the other person does on a regular basis... Not a good sign.

There are no shortcuts and sometimes a relationship can feel like a drag. That doesn't mean it's necessarily doomed. But if you constantly feel the relationship doesn't give anything good for you, if it makes you lose yourself and makes you feel bad about yourself, if you constantly question why are you together, then it might be the time to let go. I'm not saying you deserve more, because some of us are naturally pieces of shit, but it will probably work better with someone else. Or alone. Being alone can be satisfying too.

I know this relationship I'm in is going to last from two things. One, is how he makes me feel. He has managed to open few tiny doors in me that I thought were shut forever. My viking left to raid coasts overseas for a month, and when he was leaving, he sounded very worried about me. As if I would miss him so much I couldn't function. Unheard of! No one has ever been worried about me like that. It's supposed to be the other way around. Since I'm made out of rocks emotionally and ice flows through my veins.

But he is right. And apparently I'm made out of marshmallow and cotton candy. It's only been few days but I can already feel the upcoming four weeks weighing heavy on my shoulders. To ease my longing I hang post-its on my wall for everyday he's gone that I can take out one at a time. Having something physical and visual to remind me that he is not gone forever hopefully helps. I also decided to write one thing I like about him on every post-it and I will probably give them to my viking when he returns from his travels.

The second one is how he treats me. I think it was our third date that he gave me a little Darth Vader toy to add to my "collection". I have around ten stuffed animals on my couch's back rest. That wasn't the only collection he wanted to contribute to. Let's just say he is not at all against me having a file full of dick pics.

So far every time a guy I like has asked me what I want for a present, I've answer the moon. I have never gotten that, which I guess is a good thing since I've heard rumours that having a moon is quite crucial for Earth to function as it should. Asking for the moon is a similar joke as to ask for world peace as a present.

Now. What is icky is that this christmas someone actually tried. I think this is closest one can get giving the moon without actually going to get the moon from the sky. My viking found a jeweller who makes jewelry from moonstones. The picture doesn't do it justice. He also bought me a piece of land on the moon. How. Cute. Is. That!

But I don't mean that he treats me well because he brings me presents and tries to keep me fat with chocolate. It's also how he helps me with everything I need help with - even when I don't even want his help. It's in how he drives through the night after a long shift just to get to sleep next to me. It's in his way of asking how my day was and being actually interested.

How he is reminds me why I was with my ex's in the first place. He reminds me of the good qualities they had that were slowly getting buried under the sand of time. My viking seems to have "best of both worlds" combining the things I've liked in men before and at least so far I haven't yet noticed what the downside of him is.

Today you can choose the song of the day yourself. I suggest picking one of these options:
Savage Garden - To the moon and back
Frank Sinatra - Fly me to the moon
King Harvest - Dancing in the moonlight
Mike Oldfield - Moonlight shadow
R.E.M. - Man on the moon
(It's not like they have much to do with the topic, except that they are songs that mentions the moon. But choosing yourself is important here because you can decide how the moon makes you feel.)

The Viking is away for the 14th, but don't you worry, I have no intentions of skipping Valentine's Day Extravaganza. Maybe it's even more important this year. Since I miss him. And since I'm finally in love. And I think he is the one.

But don't tell him I said that.

Because admitting it would be like admitting defeat in the world of rocks and ice.

Following your heart means losing your mind

Song of the day first this time. It's Ratatat's Wildcat.

Do you know when you get the "I should do this, I should do that, why haven't I done that already, I really have to think about that" mood? And then you run out of money. And then something emotional happens. Suddenly you're so deep in your thoughts again that you don't know which way is up and which down. Deadline for an essay is lurking in the corner, the vacation is almost over and back to work soon and school starts in few weeks and I haven't picked the courses and and and...

"Do you believe in Fate? Are we but trains, traversing on rails laid before us, given only an illusion of freedom?

If our lives are predetermined, shouldn't it be simple to peer into the future and see the end of the rails? If choice is but an illusion, why do you spend so much time worrying about whether yours was right? If there are no options, why do you ponder at what-ifs?"

This is a piece a friend of mine wrote for a photography portfolio. I find myself pondering about it often. I've been playing the "is it better" game in my head again. And of course it has something to do with men. I've met a man.

So confusing, so assertive and same time shy, insecure and cocky, funny but so serious man. So confusing that I have no idea what it is about him. Why I blush when he looks deep into my eyes, why do my knees go weak when he kisses me. And mostly why do I want to tear off his clothes and then mine and lay in bed until someone forces us out of it.

He makes me confused, but mostly in a good way. Though I found out something about myself that I hoped didn't exist. Long story short.

We met in the internet. Of course. Where else people meet other people anymore? He is from another country. Of course since apparently there's something wrong with Finnish men. I was in the forest for a week doing field work for my masters thesis and the next day I left, he came here. But our paths crossed. I knew I had about 24h time to meet him when I got home. So after being a wildling with nature growing in my eyes and the wind and the rain in my hair, I came home, threw my stuff on the floor and left to meet him.

It wasn't a date. We both knew it wasn't. It wasn't romantic, it was fun. It was casual. It was natural. Natural was to talk with him, joke with him, dance with him, hang out with him. And because of that it was natural to kiss him. It was natural to get weak knees. We spent the night talking and making out like teenagers.

He left the next day.

He also stayed the next day. He postponed his leave for a week. So we met again. It was natural again, and again the time just flew by. We spent the night kissing, spooning and what else innocent you can do with your clothes on.

He wants to take it slow.

And here's the thing. It drives me crazy. I've never had the "problem" that the person I like doesn't want to sleep with me. Quite the opposite. If someone is willing to kiss me, they're usually more than happy to make me forget the world entirely.

And he's so fucking sexy. The way he kisses, the way he touches... It's hot. I want to pounce him, scratch him, rip off my clothes in front of him. I want to make him see that it would be a good idea to get oh so very naked.

But he doesn't want me. Maybe he doesn't find me attractive after all. He says he does. He says he doesn't want to fuck it up. I look at him my head tilted. Is he serious? Does he mean it? Is he serious with me? Is this getting too serious? But if it is going to be serious, what does it matter how soon we do it. He is leaving the country in few days anyway!

Hold on. Am I trying to pressure someone to have sex with me? What the hell? What have I become?

This is the point I threw him out. Or I will do something I'll regret. Either torture myself around him so much that I will feel like shit and cry, or turn into somekind of monster who pressures someone to have sex with them. Distance is a good idea.

But I like him. No idea why, but I do.

And now he doesn't answer my message.

I guess it was me who fucked it up. In relationships, either way, we are screwed. And not in a good way.

Untie me

I have had this terrible urge to write but my thoughts keep being too vague to be captured. It's freaking scary to move to another country. Even if it's only for a short time. Even if you speak the language. Even if you know people not too far from the place you've decided to move. It's scary to start your life again. To rebuild everything around you. New places, new look, new friends, new people everywhere. The chances of running into something familiar is very slim. Everywhere you go, everything is new. Everybody is new. Every road you walk is new. You have to figure out how everything works, how the shower works, how the kitchen works, how the water works, how the climate works, how the connections work, how the people and the culture works.

Nothing is safe. Nowhere is safe. Because it's so unfamiliar. But it's an adventure. And sometimes it's good to leave everything behind and just pause to take a breather. To see things from a new perspective. I'm dreading going back home to my old ways. Going back living in my head without embracing the artistic side of it. Here I feel like I could paint the sky, sing with birds, write the most painful poetry. Here I feel. Here I breathe. Here I miss.

Not only did I quit smoking again but I have had to change my eating habits. I've had to change how I interact with people. I have to be more outgoing, but I think I really am that. I think I've been passive so far and now I'm discovering how I really am. Not who I am, but how I am. I'm still sarcastic as fuck. I'm still more in my head and in my own solitude than I think the people around me are. But I am a risk taker, and that's what I should be doing. I should go get that tattoo. Should go bungee jumping. Here people likes the way I am because they don't know who I was.

I ride the waves of feelings because that's who I am. Whimsical, unpredictable, deep. I am a storm.

Untie me. Untame me.

I am the poem.

But I'm still a heart. Red, bleeding, scarred, hard heart. I beat. And I keep myself inside a ribcage because I know I have to leave this all soon. I cannot open the door for a unavoidable goodbye. I cannot open myself to you, because the shattered pieces would cut you. The well has a lid on so you won't fall and drown. The student should never become the master. You would tell me I'm the only one you're seeing, but do you really see me? Is it because I'm choosing not to show, not to be loud?

It comes so naturally here, far away from home. The lines writes themselves. Here I feel like I could be brilliant. A genius. The pain is real here, I'm not numb. I'm glad I came because I missed the feeling of feeling. And even though I know it's not going to end well, I'm happy I can have this time to feel. Feel like I'm alive. Feel like I'm doing something for myself. Going somewhere. But not staying there. Here I feel more proud of what I have accomplished. And I feel like I could do much more. I need challenges. This is only the start. The beginning. Not the beginning of an end, a beginning of a start.

World, here I come. It's going to be great. I'm going to be great. And one day you'll see it too.

Spoon list

I have been awfully busy lately. I'm trying to wrap things up so I can graduate and there has been all kinds of extra things at work. Too much stress doesn't really make one a happy person and I have to learn to balance my shit.

In the past few weeks I have had one true moment of happiness. I took my bike to a shop to be repaired since someone had stolen my mudguard during the winter. After I left the shop I walked home the longer route. I walked through this park with plenty of grass, some rocks and few trees. It felt blissful and even though I have always considered myself a city girl, I was reminded of how much I need nature in my life. I guess it's a Finnish thing. We born in forests, we live in forest, we live out of forests, we are the forest. Breathing in the clean air and enjoying the sun made me more happy than I have been in a while.

And then it hit me, a little park can make me happier than my new relationship. I opened the conversation and long story short I felt like I was dumped. (Don't believe everything I write, actually it was a mutual talk and there's no bad blood.) Now I have to face the next decade in my life alone, but for some reason it scares me lot less than I thought. I guess I had already grew into the whole independent thing. I also realised that this is not the best time in my life to have a relationship. I just don't have time and energy for it and I'm leaving the country for few months in the fall. So I dedicate this summer to meaningless flirting and girly giggles. I get back to the relationship thing again next year. I want to say I'm giving up on men totally but we all know that's never gonna happen. I've watched too many Disney movies and romcoms not to believe in love.

A friend of mine had written a note in FB with the title Don't Be Afraid of Life. She said that a playlist in youtube (The Ultimate Cheesy Pop) reminded her of the carefree years of her youth. She says there were two moments in her life when she had to make a difficult decision and that she made mistakes then. The two biggest regrets. No wonder she was reminded of mistakes while listening to that playlist...

I tried to think of my biggest regrets in life but I couldn't come up with anything. They are not something I have done, but things I have not done. It's odd that she wrote about that because similar things have gone through my head. Maybe it's the beginning of summer that reminds us with sunshine of how much better things could be or what but there's definitely something in the air.

I wrote a bucket list the other day. It's called that because you write down things you want to do before you hit the bucket. (In Finnish it's sometimes translated to "spoon list" because you don't hit a bucket in Finland, you throw your spoon in the corner.) It's time to start doing those things on my list so I can one day die without regrets of things I didn't do.

Things on my list are pretty average. I want to get a tattoo, shave my hair, bungee jump, travel around the world, visit a skyscraper, fly in a private jet, see something that blows your mind, sing in an (empty) stadium and so on. I can't remember if I ever had more than a three course meal so one day I want to try at least an eight course meal. I want to spend a week on a deserted island totally nekkid. I want to get married one day. I don't necessarily have to have a wedding, I just want to know how it feels like to me Mrs someone.

I want to give a kiss to someone from a royal family. I want to do something good, if not something big then at least multiple small things that might not be seen but makes others around me feel good. I want to be able to help my mother to become a grandmother. I sometimes can't breath when I think that she's not going to experience that because of my decisions. That such a big thing is so totally dependent on other people. But then again, one day I want to hire an escort or a gigolo or whatever they are called and let that person take me to the most amazing date and make me feel like the world revolves only around me. Because sometimes it's not about someone else, sometimes we ourselves need to be made special.

Single and ready to face the world. Maybe not so positive but at least optimistic.

I tried to translate a bit what Miss P wrote (hope she won't be offended):

"We all have had the same spark since our youth. For some the spark is blown out in the winds of life. Some of us kills ourselves in the fear of the destruction from the flames. For some lucky ones the inner fire will burn their whole lives. For some it takes a long time before that spark will turn into proper flames. -- In the end life is nothing but a flash of light that dies down fast. Only a fool would hide from it voluntarily. Don't be afraid of life."

Starter

This is an old post from January 8th 2013.

"If there's a need to try WoW out, it's always better to try the starter version than play on a friends account. With starter you get a free account that you can upgrade to a better one later. Playing a friends account can get your friend banned and if you ever want to upgrade and play 4realz the characters you've made are left behind. Unless you can make your friend pay 20€ for the transfer and I think that's when it's on sale.

Starter is how it's named, get you starting. It's also free for a reason. It includes a lot of restrictions, some of them just mainly trying to block the goldseller from using free accounts. I made a list here of all the restrictions:

- level cap at 20, after which you get gold from all the quests and not XP
- not able to use auction house
- can't join a guild or form one
- can't use realID or b-tag
- over 20 levels higher players can't see your /say (this is very nasty especially for RP'ers) this is information that is not shared by Blizzard, so we ended up testing it
- you can only whisper to those who have whispered you or have added you on their friend list
- you can't form a party, but you can join one
- you can't trade that means no mail
- maximum of 10 gold
- no use of the global channels

But:
- free to play to level 20
- no talent, skill or any that kind of restrictions
-  all the classes and races available to try except the last expansions
- dungeons, bg's and even with the random feature
- riding available and enough moneycap to buy a mount
- the characters will remain after upgrading

In battlegrounds you are stuck with the lvl24 twinks and that can be pretty unmotivational but PvP is won by skill, not with levels. A starter can twink some too and practise makes purrfect. I've heard whining how it's so unfair that the starters are put with the paying players that has advantage but I think it's only fair for the gamemakers to favour the paying customers. I don't see why would those who play free should have bracket of their own when they have locked their XP by choosing not to pay. WoW costs about 15€ and that includes the basic game and first two expansions and also a month of gametime. That makes the level cap to be 80 and that's a lot to play with very little money. Only Cata and MoP has to be bought separately and of course gametime that's about 10€/month.

More information about starter here.

Happy hunting!"

Some of these things are already outdated but I don't have more current knowledge about them. I think Cata is now included in the basic pack. It'll be cheap very soon when WoD comes out.

Feel free to comment if you have more current information about starter accounts!

Sha la lala la

When I woke up this morning, I turned my alarm off and rolled over, kept sleeping. When I actually woke up, I thought about rolling over again but it was almost noon so I got up. I took a shower and for some reason it feels as if I'm not waking up at all today. I just want to crawl under the blankies and wubble myself back to sleep.

After curiously wondering what the hell is up now, I realised the new year is making me want to go back to sleep. Even though this year I had to sleep on my brothers couch for months after breaking up with a guy I really liked, I was lazy with school stuff after the summer and I'm still broken, the past year was good.

I made lots of new friends and took a little more control of my own life. I love my little guild and most of my new friends are there. I've also enjoyed the giggly-crush-butterflies once more. I think I don't want to move on to the next year because I don't know what it will bring. I hope for only good things but the pessimist in me is not so sure.

For this new years eve I want to wish you all lots of courage. And when the count down starts, guys, remember this song.

Let me sing you the song of my people

Today I want to come out of the closet and admit that I'm the guildleader of a pretty successful social guild. It happened by random events, and those I want to share you this time.

I don't remember anymore why and when Armi, Andra and me came back to Argent Dawn from Emerald Dream. I think it was because Emerald Dream was dead (and still is) and because we wanted to RP. We made two guilds at some point, one for RP and one as extra storage space. Armi had the lead in the RP-guild and I in the bank-guild. We RP'ed for a while but then it kinda dried out.

I wanted to seek out new adventures so I rolled a new character with the name I had used before in another MMO. So it was a female night elf with manly name Dannael. While questing I got a whisper: an invitation to this guild and the leader sounded so nice I decided to join. It ended up to be a zerg-guild (a guild that invites anyone and no one really gets to know one-another). I didn't like most of the people, only selected few, so I decided to leave the guild and ended up deleting the character. But in that guild people thought I was a guy because of the name and I didn't correct them. It was nice to be "Dan the man" and talk about equality to the point that one girl ragequitted because she didn't want to listen anymore of us pigs talk about how women's life should be. That was so much fun!

After Bloodrune - which is still alive and kicking, by the way, so hats off to you Rahazzan - I wanted to level my RP-character and I left Armi's RP-guild to go on new adventures. I, with Lucitar, was in Hellfire Peninsula when I got a whisper. It was this cute little dwarf that wanted my help with some PvP-stuff. I don't really care for PvP but that dwarf was so sincere I couldn't say no to him. I helped him and we chatted a bit. He talked about his guild and when he found out I was guildless, he asked me to join them. That's how I ended up in Adventurers Anonymous (or AA, like we altoholics call it).

AA had plenty of nice people and I really enjoyed my time there. Made some online-friends and had few laughs. I also became Luci (hence the name of the blog). But the guild was dying. The leader and his second in command came online less and less every week. My subscription was ending and I didn't have that much money so I told the nice people I was gonna be away for few days, maybe few weeks. When I came back after 10 days, the guild had broken down. Nobody was online anymore. It made me so sad to lose all those people.

I started to think what to do, what to do. I always wanted to give guildleading a go and so I thought I could try regrouping everyone in my guild. I didn't think they would, but I thought it was worth to try. So I mailed a letter in-game to all of the remaining guildies and told where to find me. Rennie was the first one to answer and he thought it was a good idea, so with his help we gathered the remains of AA in my bank-guild, Stop Inspecting Me.

First there was just the few of us and at some point we started to be afraid that the guild wouldn't last without new active members. So Rennie and I hit our heads together again and started to recruit. We didn't want many, quality over quantity was our motto, and we ended up getting some pretty good people to join our ranks. Now we don't even recruit anymore because people know how to find us, those who wants to giggle and take the game less seriously. With Armi on other and Rennie on other side, I now have my little guild that has a green chat (means we talk a lot. And I mean A LOT) and people really tries to get to know each other. I have no authority, but I think that is a good thing. We are all equal and at least I feel like every guildie can come to me with their in-game and outside problems. We've lasted quite long for a social guild too. It has been active since June.

If you're ever online and happen to be in Stormwinds trade district and you see a little gnome named Manypenny sitting infront of the mailbox, guarding it like a hawk, you now know the song of her people.

Funny side story to this is that I sometimes feel a little too much pressure being the leader so I go cheat my guildies with one other char and another guild. That guild actually is the best parts of Bloodrune. I've heard someone say I make a better leader than a guildie, and that might be true. So Pan (the leader of Falcon Hoof), if you ever read this, with all the love, thanks for tolerating my sarcasm!

(and the pic I have for the cover of this blog; that's actually Dannael)
Edit: Now it's a pic of Lucitar

Bugs and booms

This was written on a Saturday 27th of October 2012:

I just had a fun time in a random dungeon. The tank DC'd in the middle and the rest of the party stayed to wait. That's rare even as it is but we talked a lot too. A shadow priest asked me to dance with her pet to get a screenshot. So there I was, posing in moonkin form with her little moonkin pet like for a tourist. Such a casual athmosphere sure creates a good mood.

When the tank returned, he made his apologies in the saychat that usually tells me the player is a noob, but I think his partychat might have been bugging. A guildmate of mine had that happen to him when his computer froze up in the middle of something and coming back online the partychat for somereason didn't work anymore. All this happened after the new patch. The chat will work after a while without any notice and we haven't yet figured out why.

In that very instance an elemental shaman left the dungeon in the second room and the same thing happened in the last dungeon too. It's always so confusing when someone leaves without saying, but I like to think it's because an heirloomed shaman felt bad for losing to a boomkin in dps. And a shame it sure is because I'm usually in the bottom of that list.

One of my IRL friends have just started to play WoW and she has the weirdest bugs. Quests doesn't work, mobs don't trop loot, controls don't work, etc. I wasn't surprised about all the cursing when there's bugs on every finger. But bugs weren't my point here, it was the thought of what's the best first character for a new player. Last summer I said to a friend of mine that a druid would be a good char to be rolled. Afterwards I was sorry I've said that because it's not the most easiest with all the skills druids gets. So for a first character I would suggest a hunter. Or a rogue or a warrior could be good for they are easy at low levels. Would be nice to hear other thoughts about this, what do you think is the best character for one to start with? How about for a player that has played MMORPGs earlier but never WoW?

By the way, I think Blizzard is very smart with the customer service. For the first time ever I transferred a character from realm to another and it was said in battle.net that it usually takes an hour but one should be prepared for days for it to go through. 20mins later my character was good to go. It's good to be prepared for the worst and be positevily surprised when it's less.

Now I have to get back to school work! That I obviously do while in a queue for a random :)

Sorry about all the typoes. There's something wrong with the spellcheck. Oh well, you'll just have to live with it. Or point them out to me.

About pet battle

This is from 1st of October, 2012. I skipped one text because it was total rubbish not that this is any better. Here it goes:

Meow and rawr!

Best times to write in here is of course when your character is busy making netherweave bags. Some sillybeans were selling the cloth so cheap that I can make many, many, many gold pieces with them. With the new expansion, selling bagspace has been financially very beneficial, if you know what I mean. Can't complain even though MoP has brought up the bad in tanks. They're in so hurry to get to the end-game so it makes them run through dungeons and pull their asses off. And then there's me, trying to keep up with that pace and heal. It's good to remind yourself it's just a game when the tears start to make their way out of the eyes. And there's always the option to go get some rest and do pet battles.

If pet battling isn't that familiar yet, I really suggest to get to know it. It's good way to waste time when waiting for a random dungeon or a battle ground group to pop up. One of the best part of it that it's account wide activity, especially from the perspective of an altoholic. I'm not super excited about joining all the achievements and titles because there is less content to do. No point on grinding the main faction reputation now but just for the discounts. Never been so poor I needed to do that much work for that little copper. Grinding titles sounds like fun to me, grinding discounts sounds too much like real life. Who would want to go into a virtual world to do the same you can do outside in fresh (read: bloody cold) air, rain and darkness?

Ahem, trying to stay on the subject here. The old companion pets have turned into battle pets and with those you can take over the world battle by battle. You can battle with other players, NPC's or critterlike creatures in the nature. The battle pets in the world you can try to capture into your own collection - what I've gathered they get randomly a rarity, so you might wanna battle the same kind of pet until you get one with the blue rarity. You can only have three pets the same kind but you can always do a good deed and release the ones you don't need back to the nature. How humane, Blizzard!

My first impression of pet battling is that it's quite simple but all the stuff around it might get confusing. I had ten horde balloons and another bunch of alliance balloons when the account wide combination came along. Too bad you can't battle with them, would be fun. If this is your first time with battle pets, I highly recommend checking out the quests. They really make things clearer and the rewards from them were fun. Especially an RP'er could enjoy the cookies that makes your pet double the size.

What are you staring at this anymore, go battle!

The first morning

For a year now I've been writing a blog in Finnish about World of Warcraft and some other stuff too, but I felt my audience was more likely to be able to read in English than just in Finnish. So I decided to translate some of the posts in English. After that is done I will keep posting in English. You should know that I am not a native speaker and as good practise as this is, there's gonna be a lot of mistakes. Bare with me!

This was written on thursday September 20th 2012:

Good morning world!
For long I've been wanting to write a blog but for some reasons or others starting one has been difficult. Not physically difficult, like I just noticed, but writing a blog seems like a lot of work. And it comes with certain responsibility too, I think. I started studying in the university and I thought writing would help me to upkeep the skill. So it was time to take action. All the Facebookchatlanguage isn't good enough anymore so here it starts: the fine art of carefully put words. Mostly, like the name states, I'm going to focus on blabbering about World of Warcraft, but I might get sidetracked to ponder about current events - or things like that (ahem ahem). The reason I wanna blog about a game is because many times when I'm gaming I get a feeling I'd like to share some fun times for a bigger public.

WoW fills in a certain level a more significant part of my life I - as a somewhat normal person - would like to admit. From the year 2007 I have had some problems with my right wrist and with working too much, it got so bad that at some point I couldn't tie my own shoelaces and just about everything hurt. Only thing I could do was move the mouse and gently press the buttons on my keyboard. Few years ago I had to stop working and ended up being on a very long sickleave. It was hard at first, I was ashamed to go out because I kept thinking "what if someone sees me? here I am going to the store but I tell them I can't go to work". It took a long time before I got used to the idea that my life couldn't stop only because my wrist did.

So,I filled my time gaming. WoW is a good game because you don't have to play it for hours straight, or that intesively. When you fly from place to place you can let go of the mouse and even get up from your chair to give your legs some blood circulation. I tried playing some first person shooters, but I noticed that I held the mouse convulsively... and you know how those times ended up. Badly.

These days I play light games while watching out for my hand. Summers are always better when it's warmer, so the upcoming long and cold winter scares me. Especially when last winter was hard in every way, but maybe more about that later. I'm happy to tell you that I can now tie my own shoelaces and order steak at a restaurant without having someone cut it for me. I can do short chores like cook, but writing (by hand) is a certain way to have pain the next day. This is why I am content on poking the buttons on my keyboard -  as if there is even more fun things to do than chat with your friends in a beautiful and smooth virtual world!

More of this coming up, stay tuned!
